Introduction: In the extreme western tip of Africa, on the coast of  the Atlantic Ocean Gambia is situated. The official name is actually The Gambia. It is the smallest country on mainland Africa (11,295 km ²) no more than a wide strip of land on either side of the Gambia River, one of the largest and most navigable rivers in West Africa. The strip of land is about 320 km inland. Taxi Gambia can be found in the city of Kololi.


The Gambia has beautiful exotic beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and very friendly people. Gambian people often use the slogan: 'The Smiling Coast'. The Gambia has only two seasons and has no real winter or summer. In the summer the time difference with the Netherlands is 2 hours and in winter it is 1 hour. The "dry" season runs from November to late May and this is  the main tourist seasons. It is an inexpensive holiday in The Gambia. A flight with a charter flight from Amsterdam or with SN Brussels airlines to Banjul takes only 6 hours. The Gambia is a paradise for anglers and birdwatchers.
